The younger visitors are promised unending excitement and enjoyment at these activities.

Beginning with a Parade of Classic Cars and Bicycles

Director of Madisonville Main Street Karen Carey said she is looking forward to the celebration this year. Starting at Madisonville Primary School, the event will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a historic automobile and bike parade that will loop back to downtown for a vehicle show after traveling down Main Street to O’Reilly. The major events start at 3 p.m. after the parade.

Fun Activities Abounding During the Day

Among the many events planned for the day are a cornhole competition in front of the “stone building” next to Memorial Park on Tellico Street at 2:00 p.m. All day long there will be a plethora of food trucks, live music, and kid-friendly events that will finish with a spectacular fireworks show at about 9:30 p.m.

New Features Drawn from User Comments

According on public input, Karen Carey outlined new features that were included this year. A people’s choice vehicle and bike display comes after an exciting classic car and bike parade. Families and vehicle and bike aficionados should find this popular.

Houston Park Playground and Splash Pad

Houston Park’s recently built splash pad and playground provide the ideal way to cool off. Situated a short distance from the main festival site, these facilities offer families yet another enjoyable way to spend the day.

Organize Your Day to Have the Most Fun

Carey counsels guests to fully enjoy the day’s events and to get there early for the best parking. Plan accordingly as several downtown streets will be momentarily closed for the parade from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Classic vehicle and bike enthusiasts can sign up for the parade and show by calling Vicky at 423-507-4731 or Bear at 423-371-2217, or by registering on the day by 2:30 p.m.

Thanks to the community

Karen Carey thanked the community for its support and enthusiasm for the annual Independence Day celebration. Sponsoring the Skyway Market, an important event this year, was particularly appreciated.
